Once they have done what they can from inside then they need to get on top of the roof. They didn't even think about anything. They went off, found a fairly tall Nance tree and made themselves a notched post ladder.
They put whole new leaves on the top.
More leaves please! Isaac is at the bottom and attaches the leaves to the rope so that they can pull them up.
They put 2 V shaped posts together to hold the last leaves in place
Finished. Time to come down.
Not so easy with boots on!
But with a lot of concentration .....
The steps seem a bit far apart.
But he makes it.
Bare feet are much better.
Napoleon comes down rapidly
But he's probably had alot of practice. Many Indians use a notched post ladder to their homes, which around here are almost certainly on stilts whether they are on land or over the sea. It's turned over at night to show that it's too late to visit - everyone has gone to sleep.
And here he is at the bottom. And theroof doesn't let a drop of water in, even in a torrential tropical storm. It's quiet when it rains and it's cool underneath when the sun is hot outside. And picturesque!
