iguana

Reptiles are the most successful animals on land. Lots of lizzards and gekkoes here in Sardine Bay. Green Iguanas are the prettiest lizzard that I have seen here so far, but I see new lizzards frequently. The Iguanas are a very bright green when young, and get some black markings as they age I think - unless that is another variety. Once I was in a truck about 70 miles away and an Iguana about 4 ft long came in through thedriver's door. I don't know who was more surprised!

I think they eat the leaves of the Sangria tree that grows in the swamp areas.

venemous snake

Venemous snakes are found here. Two like this have been seen in the 8 months that I have been here. Another time someone thought there was a venemous snake under a log, but it turned out to be a harmless lizard - a lot of excitement while they thought there was a snake.

venemous snake 2

The Indians felt that I ws too close to this one when i took this photo. They were very agitated about it, and clearly my hand wasn't too steady at the time! This one and the other were grey like chain mail. Their bite can kill a person!
